One Man and His BikeMarch4.03.03 John has now reached Accra, Ghana. We received an email today, which has helped us to identify exactly where he is! He cycled from Mali into Ougadougou, Burkina Faso, with a Dutch couple. He spent a week with Wim and Marlies, camping in the bush and then one night treating themselves to a stay in a hotel. From Burkina Faso, John continued alone, heading south into Ghana. On his arrival in Accra, he was amazed to see Karl, a guy on a motorbike, who he first met in Senegal. Even though John is on a bike, he still manages to bump into people he's met earlier on route. The terrain in Ghana is very different from the dry savannah which he has grown used to. Now it's very green and lush - but very humid. 17.03.03 John has been
instructed by the British Foreign Office to avoid Nigeria and The Congo.
Therefore, he decided his safest option was to travel from Accra to
Nairobi by plane. He has now
arrived here and is enjoying the warmer weather. We have just heard that he spent all day waiting in a queue for a Visa for Mozambique. After queuing for hours, the office closed and John will have to try again tomorrow. 26.3.03 John phoned home last night to say all is well and that he has arrived in Mozambique. We are expecting to receive a detailed email soon and will update the site accordingly.
